Ed came home that evening and made homemade pizza for dinner (he thinks thats what kicked things off :). We played with Christian got him to bed and were trying to finish getting the last minute things ready to go to the hospital in the morning for the induction. It was around 9:45-10:00 I told Ed I needed to go to bed because my stomach hurt and I didn't feel great. He asked me if I was in labor and I said no. Well he said are you timing when your stomach hurts I of course replied with No I'm not in labor. He said well lets time things anyhow. So he timed when the pain was coming and going and said it was happening every 5 minutes so he decided to call the Dr. just in case.
By the time we were 1/2 way to the hospital I knew I was in labor- the contractions seemed to be coming every 2-3 minutes. We arrived at the hosiptal Ed pulled up in front of the birthing center went and got a wheelchair and wheeled me in. The security guard told him he could leave the van there while he dropped me off. So he took me upstairs. The lady at check in wanted my id and insurance card ummm... its in the van. She said go ahead back and then Ed would need to come out and fill out some paperwork. We get to the room (which just happened to be the room I deliever Christiain in) and the nurse asks me to go to the bathroom and I said ummm I can't walk so she said just get in the bed. I got in the bed and she started asking me all the registration questions. I had to interupt her and ask when are you going to check me. She said she would while getting ready she asked if I wanted to epidural of course I wanted the epi I said can I get it now she said well you have to wait until your iv is put in and you have a bag of fluid WHAT ARE YOU KIDDING ME I WAS HURTING!! She proceeded to check me and said that I was 7cm and that my water had not broke. We then continued with the registration process and with in a few minutes I told her I needed to use the restroom, she checked me again and said well we are at 10 don't push or your going to break your water and this baby is doing to be here before Dr. Mong- I can deliever a baby but we usually like to wait for the Dr. Keep in mind the van is still down in the birthcenter drop off area running and we brought nothing in with us so while we were waiting for Dr. Mong another nurse was kind enough to go get our camera's for us and cut off the van. Dr. Mong arrived within a few minutes broke my water and then about 4 pushes later Robert Benjamin was born! It was amazing!! He is perfect. Ed cut the cord they cleaned him up and we were able to hold him.
It was not long and they moved us to our room 210. We were able to get a few hours of sleep and waited until around 7am in the morning to call and let everyone know that he had arrived. Christian was the first to meet Benjamin. He came in and ran over to the bed and said baby baby. He was so sweet he gave him lots of kisses.
We got to come home on Saturday. Christian came to the hospital so that he was able to ride home with us. It was nice. We came home to a nice dinner and were able to get settled in and things have just been rolling ever since......

I'm so glad you posted that! What an amazing birth story, Jamie! I'm sure you were in total shock at the end of it all. Way to go with hanging in there w/out the epidural. I would guess that next time you better be R-E-A-D-Y to head for the hospital, or Ed will be doing more than just cutting the cord! Congratulations and your new little one is adorable. I love how great Christian is with him, too. God bless you all!!
Men! Are you sure you're not in labor? Smarty Pants! - I hate it when they are right. I think he and Tim would get along well!
The boys look so cute together. Hope and pray everyone is adjusting well. Would love to hear you tell the story in person.
Love & Prayers,
tim, cheryl, graham & griffin
I still can't believe it was that quick! Lucky you. Their matching outfits are too cute!
